Oslo, Norway, March 11, 2026 – Vianode, an advanced battery materials company, has signed a Term Sheet to supply high-performance synthetic anode graphite for grid battery energy storage systems (BESS) to a North American battery technology company.

Under the term sheet, Vianode will supply 8,000 tonnes of synthetic graphite from its Norwegian facility, Via ONE, with a roadmap to expand beyond 10,000 tonnes a year once the Canadian large-scale plant, Via TWO, becomes operational.

“The North American market for battery energy storage systems is entering a period of rapid growth, driven by expanding residential energy storage systems, datacenters, and increasing demand for grid flexibility,” said Burkhard Straube, CEO of Vianode. “These applications require durable, high-consistency battery cells and secure access to advanced anode materials. Vianode is an ideal partner for BESS companies, and we are proud to expand our presence in the energy storage sector.”

More than 95% of the synthetic graphite used in lithium-ion batteries for energy storage systems and electric vehicles (EVs) is currently manufactured in Asia, leaving North American markets heavily dependent on imports. Vianode produces synthetic graphite in Norway and is currently developing production capacity in Canada, strengthening access to locally produced anode materials and supporting a more resilient and secure battery supply chain for customers in North America and Europe.

Vianode’s synthetic anode graphite solutions deliver up to 90% CO₂ reduction while providing tailored performance for a wide range of applications, from long-lasting energy storage systems to fast-charging EVs.

The companies anticipate signing a final, binding offtake agreement later this year.
